My approach
Overweight and obesity affect more than half of Australian adults.
Losing weight is a complex challenge. Maintaining weight loss, for a variety of reasons, is even more challenging. If only it was as simple as "Eat less, move more"!
Very often, people feel that they have tried everything without any long term success. It can begin to feel that your weight is beyond your control. What has often happened is that they have really only tried one approach, restrictive dieting, in one of many forms.
This pattern rarely leads to long term weight loss or happiness. This cycle of weight loss/weight gain is exhausting and demoralizing.
There is a confusing amount of information in the popular press about what to eat if you want to lose weight – low carb/ no carb/ high protein?
The only long term solution that will help you manage your weight is one which is specific to you , allowing for your taste, preferences, budget and time availability.
My role is to provide you with the knowledge, confidence and support to help you develop a life style which you enjoy and can maintain forever, resulting in long term weight loss.
There is no quick or easy answer, but there is an answer which puts you in control of you future.
There is a healthier, happier, more energetic and longer life waiting for you.
Cost
All consultations are partially rebated by Medicare. There is a small out of pocket expense.
For the best results, I like to see patients for a period of weight loss and then more importantly for a period of weight maintenance.
My consultations are for 45 minutes, once a week for three weeks , then fortnightly for a number of weeks and then monthly.
For patients who have a Mental Health Care Plan or a Health Care Plan, there are Medicare rebates if you need to see a psychologist, dietitian or exercise physiologist. These care plans are prepared for you by your GP
